It may be shocking, but the dress you are looking at in the picture was made in four days completely out of paper and acrylic paint. This dress was created by seniors Michaela Battistelli, Rebekah Leger and Sophie Thorson in Kellee Granados’s fashion merchandising class.
The assignment was “to make a garment out of paper products that used an element of design and fashion.” Thorson said. As if making a dress under with limited materials sounds challenging enough, the main challenge was “pinning all of the paper onto that one little mannequin,” Thorson said, “we had to layer it and scrunch everything up.”
On your next trip to the 100 floor, make sure to stop by Granados’s room to see all the dresses other students designed, you will not be disappointed.
