Still not mentally ready for the year to come? Need a reminder for what to prioritize your first year? Well, freshmen, this one is for you. We upperclassmen and women understand and empathize with your impending awkwardness. So a few seniors were kind enough to put together a list of tips and tricks to survive your first month of high school and further on. Let’s start with the basics.

Personal Identity

Many of us struggle with the problems of finding friends, being ourselves, and just fitting in. Let us assure you that you’ll find your way. “Don’t worry about what other people think,” senior Alison Garbe said. Also, “Don’t let others control who you are,” senior Drew Shreve Added.

Academic Advice

As freshmen. you should all try to set good habits for homework and asking for help when necessary. One anonymous source said, “Try to get every single assignment completed and go in after school and talk with your teachers; they are there to help you.” Others said such things as “don’t forget to talk, and use your mentors for questions and homework help.

Of course, don’t forget to get involved early. Take electives that will interest you, join clubs and find like-minded friends, get on a team or just enjoy a sport you want to play. Remember that these are supposed to be some of the best years of your life. So remember to make wise choices and enjoy your high school career to the fullest.
