You Can Dance, You Can Jive

Kaitlyn Wilson

Mamma mia, here I go again. My my, how can I resist getting excited for this year’s fall musical, “Mamma Mia.”

The cast of this year’s musical has been working hard to learn the music and lines. They practice several days a week after school. Senior Bailey Banks will play the role of Donna. Banks said, “Play practice is going well. Our rehearsals are mostly just getting the blocking down as well as learning the music. Soon we’ll be putting all of the cast mates together on stage.”

Director Sue Williamson is very excited for her last musical. She said, “Practice so far is so much fun. At the beginning of rehearsals the cast is seperated. I deal with the major and minor leads on stage.” Williamson came up with the idea of doing “Mamma Mia” for the fall musical while watching “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.” Williamson said, “I think this musical will be one of the best ever done. I want the kids to have fun because it’s a wonderful experience.”

Musical Director Spencer Rockford has been working with the cast on music. They have all been putting in a lot of time and effort to help make this musical come together. Rockford said, “Practices are going great. This is, by far, the most music in a musical I have ever seen. I am so relieved that we have so many talented students to make this show a great one.” Rockford

hopes to get all of the music learned soon so that the students can focus on the acting and emotions that they are putting into their roles.

If you are interested in seeing “Mamma Mia,” the cast will be performing it Nov. 16 and Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Grab a friend and come support your peers while singing along to some great tunes.
