Senior Lauren Mucci has dedicated fourteen years of her life to dance and has been successful from the start. Mucci has won several awards for her dancing and even was a member of the state champion Pirate Poms last year.
“Lauren is an extremely talented dancer, and not only does she have superb dance technique, but she is also hardworking and a great teammate. It’s been my pleasure to coach her for four years,” Pirate Pom coach, Alaina Weatherford said.
Mucci has been a part of Pirate Poms since her freshman year. She is a dedicated member of the team who is always willing to give her teammates a helping hand when they need it. “Lauren always makes sure that I know the material for the dance and is always willing to help me if I don’t,” senior teammate Riley Bristol said.
This year Mucci will compete as an Illinois Drill Team Association soloist with the Pirate Poms during their winter competition season. After graduation Mucci would like to go to a four-year university and join a college dance team. Eventually, Mucci would also like to become a dance team coach herself. “Our coach really inspired me to think about coaching a team of my own one day. It’s something I could really see myself doing in the future,” Mucci said.
